the story behind my second buck

Well I didn't expect to get a deer this year. I feel so lucky and blessed. I love when we have southern tags because we get to spend some times with my extended family in Salina and up in the mountains. We haven't had southern tags for a few years so I was super excited this year. I have amazing cousins, and I love my aunt and uncle. The snow stopped us from camping up in the mountains, so we stayed in Salina on my aunt and uncles farm.

Saturday morning we got up extra early to get up on the mountain before light. It was a cold morning and we hiked all over the place. My dad and I saw quite a few deer but not well enough to determine if any had antlers. The storm was getting started and so most of us decided to get off the mountain.

We decided to stay around to hunt on the farm. We walked from the farm house through the fields. McWayne started with the gun and we didn't really determine who would shoot if we saw one. Well Mc saw a deer in a field that was not on my uncles property. It wasn't moving at all so he thought it was fake. Needless to say it wasn't and there was a pretty good size herd. They were all doe. We continued on and it was getting dark so we only had about 15 minutes of hunting left. It also started raining, so we were getting drenched. McWayne gave me the gun and my dad took off to get the truck to pick us up on the other side of the farm. We got around to the farthest field. We got up to the fence and I glanced the field for deer. Didn't see anything but it was getting dark it was hard to see through the scope. We climbed the fence to get into the field and walked a few feet. I spotted a deer jump over the fence onto my uncles farm and just 40 yards away. He stopped a little past the road and looked at us. I could tell it was a buck. I looked through the scope and knew it was at least a 3 point. My brother said take it out. I was shaking and he had the pod to hold the gun. So we set that up really fast and then I had to have Mc turn off the safety because I had never used his gun. He did it and I shot. Perfect shot. Right threw the heart and the deer went down 30 yards from were I shot. He was a 3 x 4 and he had a little cheater point on the 3 side.

I know alot of people are against hunting but there are so many good things about hunting that people don't think about.

went from being Miss Allie to Ms. Mumford

I can't believe that I am a teacher! Is it everything I thought it would be? Mostly yes, I just wish I could just have fun all the time and not discipline. I suck at that. I think the hardest thing for me has been getting my classroom ready and putting my classroom policies into place, and of course classroom management. Some people ask me teach middle school are you crazy? My answer is Yes, but really its all about teaching at their maturity level and since I love acting like a total idiot, middle school is the level for me. I think the dumb stuff they do is hilarious. I love my students though. They are fun, energetic, and will do anything you tell them to. well most of them. I had one student that I got mad at because she was talking when I was talking and I said she owed the class donuts. She totally brought donuts...I hope her mom wasn't too mad. I am teaching 3 prealgebra classes. Its amazing what kids cannot do. -3+1 really?

Funny story! so this happened the third week. I was wearing shoes that had a metal chain on them. I was taking role in my third period class and was kneeling on my chair. Well my foot was against the wall. All of a sudden I feel a little shock and a big POP! I look back and my outlet is smoking and black. My foot was also black from where the chain was touching my foot. the kids were all very concerned, haha not, but it made for a good story. so much for my brand new classroom. I had one of the kids get the vice principal. what a story to tell huh. So lesson learned to put metal on a metal outlet cover.

I have also been subbing on my days off which has been fun.

The Big 25

well what can I say.... not really looking forward for this age, but alas the time has come. It feels like birthdays are not that important the older you get. This one was hard because all my friends are either married, in logan, or live out of state. I got to teach which was fun, one class sang to me, I got random little gifts, and the faculty made a door poster which I look rediculous in but it was funny. I am very lucky to have my friend jess. She surprised me at work and brought me balloons. Thanks girl! Funny story, we were driving home and were stopped at a stoplight chit chatting. When the light turned green I began to drive and the balloons started going out the window.....OH CRAP... I had to pull over, popped a few balloons but most of them made it home. After work, my parents took me out to dinner. After we did our traditional icecream cake. I decided to play around with the candles and fire ( can you say piro....) and melted candles to a plate and roasted a mallow. Pretty eventful day I know! 25 is igoing to be th best year yet....I have a feelin!

Colors Concert

I love music and love musiclive! I got to go to thecolors concert with my best friend jessie, my mom, katie and dakota. It was a really chill concert but I loved every minute of it. There just isn't anything better than listening to music outside under the stars. My older sister sunni introduced me to the band when she was going to utah state. I have loved them ever since.

Focusing on the good....

So at church yesterday, I was sitting by my friend Bekah and we were chit chatting during sunday school and she brought up a great point. Why is it that the news always chooses to talk about all the bad stuff that is going on around us. Wouldn't it be awesome if they showed only good stuff? Well as I was contemplating this idea I decided that I do that in my own life. I always focus on the negative things that are going on in my life. So I made my august resolution to stop looking at the bad and to focus on all the good things that are going on in my life. Love moments like this. Don't worry....Be Happy!

Mc's Wedding

I guess it was about time that one of us kids took the plunge.... haha. Well McWayne got married on the 29th of May. I am so happy that he found himself an amazing girl. Shannon rocks! I am not gonna lie, a little strange having someone in my family married. The wedding was stressful and I didn't even have to do the planning. We had the wedding reception in my backyard. My dad and I spent forever getting the place to look amazing. They were truly blessed because it was supposed to rain but it held out just for them. It was a way fun day. Got to see lots of family that I haven't seen in a long time, and a lot of people helped out which they were all amazing to do that for us. They got married at the salt lake temple. Isn't it great that families are forever. I have the best one in the entire world.

A few random memories to remember.....
1) Had to go back to the temple to get a parking token. Got back to the car told Katie not to drop it, I handed it off and it dropped under the seat.... 15 minutes later we found it.

2) Wind + chocolate fountain = disaster

3) Setting up the music for the reception and broke the shop window....oops

4) Best cake smashing I have ever seen

5) Bouquet madness.....never seen so many desperate girls want it.....needless to say I was one of them

Never thought this day would come....

but I DID IT!!! Saturday I graduated from Utah State University, the best school in the universe. Majored in Math Education and minored in Physical Education/Coaching. It definitely hasn't been the easiest journey but I sure am glad I never gave up. I could have never done it without my parents support, and the good work ethic I learned from them. I have been student teaching this semester and Love it! Helping students learn is definitely one of my passions. Hopefully I will land a job this summer. I never wanted to walk but I decided that after 6 years of being a full time student that I deserved it. My family came to support me along with my best friends Jessie, and Cami. They have all had a huge impact on my life and I could never thank them enough. Sunni also graduated on Saturday. She got her PhD at North Carolina University. She is my role model. She is amazing and I was so sad that we could not go out and support her.

The tunaboat.... to the g-ma..... to LT RED!!!

I never dreamed at getting such a beauty!

I have always been blessed to have something to drive. I got to drive my parents suburban (aka tunaboat) in high school. People always made comments but I was able to drive my volleyball team around which is where it got its nickname.

When I was getting ready to head to college I got the g-ma car from my grandma Mumford. At a family reunion once, I drove her home and she was just amazed of how good of a driver I was. She never stopped talking about it and when my dad showed interested in the car she gave it to me because I was the best driver. I love my grandma so much. She passed away a few months after that. The g-ma car has definately held out longer then I thought it would. It had its good times and its bad but it got me through my time in logan. It was named the g-ma car after my friend luke made a comment about how it looks like a grandma car. I told him that it was my grandmas car....boom. haha it was funny. My friend Bryanna told me she would miss watching my speedometer. It goes crazy and she never could tell how I knew how fast I was going.....well you must be one with the grandma car. It is official the g-ma car is dead. I will miss it and the memories!

But not that much. I was lucky that my parents stubbled across the cougar. They were driving around a neighborhood in my stake and spotted it. It is a stick shift so that has been a challenge learning how to drive it. After a few weeks on the road, I must say I am not that bad. I LOVE it! and I am a LUcKY girl! My dad and I named it LiTtle RED. After we named it, I remembered that that was what my grandpa mumford would call me when I went to visit him. Just a fun fact.

Sunny ST. GEORGE

I love going down to st. george with my family. We missed having my mom, sun, and mc, but we still had fun together. We haven't been to Zions since I was a little girl so that was fun to see the beautiful scenary in that park. We also went to snow canyon and had fun playing around the rocks. One of my favorite parts about all of our trips to the st. george is going to the park and hitting pecans out of the trees. Oh they are so good. I love the sunshine. Even though I haven't had much of a winter this season, (which is alright by me) I just can't wait for summertime.

Shootin' it up!

I gotta love my families little traditions. McWayne started buying shotgun shells and clay pigeons for all of us for Christmas presents a few year's ago. We go a few days after Christmas and just have a blast....haha literally! This trip, my dad found a toilet seat that was all shot up, so what does he do, takes a shotgun to it. Lets just say there was nothing left of it. Good times!
